Gareth Farr

Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms – impassioned, poignant and effervescent in turn – for soprano, choir and orchestra, opens this scintillating concert. Changing moods continue in Gareth Farr’s new Triple Concerto with its virtuosic mix of lyricism, fire, and a distinct Aotearoa sound performed with the New Zealand Trio as soloists. Excitement peaks in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, fantastic tales of the Arabian Nights, offering blazing sweeps of orchestral colour, sensual melodies, and Oriental drama.

Free pre-concert talk one hour prior to the performance
